Achy MuscleMix Eucalyptus oil, Wintergreen oil and Cypress oil with coconut, olive oil or an unscented lotion and apply to muscles.

There's research that indicates eucalyptus oil has analgesic properties.

Wintergreen oil has pain-relieving properties that help relieve headaches, muscle cramps, joint pain, tendonitis, and bone pain. Wintergreen oil has properties that help reduce stress and tension.

Cypress oil is an antispasmodic property that suppresses muscle spasms.

Arthritis ReliefMix 2 drops of Wintergreen oil, Cypress oil and Lemongrass oil with coconut, olive oil or an unscented lotion. Massage into affected areas.

  • Wintergreen oil (must be diluted before use) stimulates blood circulation around the affected tissues and muscles.

  • Cypress oil works as an anti-inflammatory properties.

  • Lemongrass helps to soothe sore joints.

Bug BitesUse a drop of Lavender oil for bug bites and stings for its antimicrobial and soothing properties.

BurnsAdd about 10 drops of Lavender oil to a ½ cup of Aloe gel.  Apply to burn often to reduce pain, swelling and to help promote healing.

  • Either Lavender or Aloe gel alone are beneficial to burn care, combined they are a great healing combination.

  • Not only does Lavender oil have a calming and soothing aroma it is an antimicrobial.

  • Aloe gel has anti-inflammatory properties.

Cold sores and Canker sores are very different:

  • Cold sores are a cluster of blisters that first appear clear then become cloudy.  They could be inside the mouth, but cold sores generally appear outside the mouth on the lips.

  • Canker sores are gray or white sores surrounded by a red inflamed area. They occur only inside the mouth, on the tongue or the insides of the cheeks, lips or throat.

Cold SoresMix 4 drops of Tea Tree oil to 1 tablespoon of coconut oil or olive oil.  Using a cotton swab apply to the affected area a couple of times a day until the cold sore is gone.  Store the solution in a tightly sealed brown glass bottle.

  • Tea Tree oil is known for its antifungal, antibacterial, and antiviral properties.

Canker SoresDampen a cotton swab in Clove oil and dab it onto the canker sore. Apply several times a day.

  • Clove oil has antiseptic properties to kill the bacteria. It also contains Eugenol; a mild natural analgesic which numbs the nerves.

DandruffDepending on your needs here are 6 essential oil remedies for dandruff.

1.  Tea Tree Oil: Mix 5 to 7 drops of Tea Tree oil in 1/4 cup of coconut oil or olive oil. Apply mixture to your scalp at night. In the morning rinse it out thoroughly with lukewarm water.

  • Tea Tree oil has antiseptic, antimicrobial and antibacterial properties to kill bacteria, yeast and germs that may build up on the scalp.

2.  Lavender Oil:  Mix about 7 to 10 drops of Lavender oil in coconut or olive oil.  Apply mixture and leave in overnight. In the morning rinse it out thoroughly with lukewarm water.

  • Lavender oil has anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties that will fight off fungus and soothe a red, itchy scalp. It also helps promote a healthy scalp.

  • Lavender oil has a calming effect on an irritated scalp.  Plus, Lavender oil is known to promote a peaceful night sleep.

3.  Rosemary Oil:  Mix about 5 to 7 drops of Rosemary oil in lukewarm water and use as a hair rinse.

  • Rosemary oil has anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties. It's also known to increase circulation.

4.  Peppermint Oil:  Mix about 7 drops of Peppermint oil in 1/4 cup of coconut oil or olive oil and massage it onto your scalp.  After 2 hours rinse it out thoroughly with lukewarm water.

  • Peppermint oil gives a soothing and cooling sensation that will calm an itchy scalp and helps to eliminate flakiness.

5.  Patchouli Oil: Massage a mixture of 3 to 5 drops of Patchouli oil with coconut oil or olive oil onto your scalp.  After 2 hours rinse it out thoroughly with lukewarm water.

  • Patchouli oil contains anti-fungal properties are known to kill off yeast and bacteria.

6.  Chamomile Oil:  You can use Chamomile oil as a leave in treatment or a hair rinse.

Mix 5 to 7 drops of Chamomile oil with coconut oil or olive oil and massage it onto your scalp.  After 2 hours rinse it out thoroughly with lukewarm water.

Or

Mix 5 to 7 drops of Chamomile oil in a cup of distilled water to use as a hair rinse.

  • Chamomile oil has many healing properties, its anti-inflammatory properties that reduce redness, inflammation and helps to maintain the scalps natural moisture to reduce itchy flakes.

Ear AchePut a few drops of Lavender and Tea Tree oil onto a cotton ball and gently place the cotton ball in the infected ear.  Replace the cotton ball 2 - 3 times a day until the infection is gone.

  • Not only does Lavender oil have a calming and soothing aroma it's an antimicrobial.

  • Tea Tree oil is known for its antifungal, antibacterial, and antiviral properties.

Warning - If an ear ache continues or worsen, see a doctor, it could be a warning of a serious ear problem.

FeetFor itchy, cracked, peeling or irritated feet. 

Mix into a tight sealing brown bottle, 6 drops Camomile oil, 6 drops Tea Tree oil and 4 drops Lavender oil with 1 ounce of coconut or olive oil.  Gently massage the mixture onto your feet before going to bed.

  • Camomile oil is known for its calming and anti-inflammatory properties.

  • Tea Tree oil is known for its anti-fungal, antibacterial, and antiviral properties.

  • Lavender oil has soothing, anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties.

Gingivitis:  Use 2 teaspoons of coconut oil and gently rinse mouth for 10 - 20 minutes (don't swallow, spit oil out into trash), immediately after, rinse mouth with a mixture of warm water and sea salt, then brush your teeth as normal.  Or better yet, brush your teeth with a homemade toothpaste made with Coconut oil, Baking Soda and Clove oil.

Homemade tooth paste: Make a mixture of; 6 tablespoons of Coconut oil, 6 tablespoons of Baking Soda and 10 to 15 drops of Clove oil.

  • Coconut oil has antibacterial, antimicrobial, and antifungal properties. Studies have shown that coconut oil destroys the bacteria.

  • Clove oil has antimicrobial, antifungal, antiseptic, and antiviral properties.

  • Baking Soda as a mild abrasive helps in the removal of plaque.  At the same time it cleans and deodorizes teeth.

Warning - When using essential oils for treating any condition of the mouth, do not swallow them. Some essential oils can be toxic.

Headache and Migraine ReliefA combination of few drops of Peppermint oil and Lavender oil works wonders easing headache pain.  Rub on the temples, forehead, and the back of the neck and over sinus area, avoiding the eyes, to soothe pressure and headache.

  • Peppermint oil leaves a soothing, cooling sensation, while the Lavender oil is known for its calming and relaxing properties.

  • There is a product called Migrastick that can be found it most vitamin shops and health food stores.

Itching: For general itching the use of Peppermint oil or Lavender oil is found to be beneficial.  For rashes the use of Tea Tree oil or Lavender oil is found to be beneficial.  Mix 5 to 10 drops of essential oil to 1 teaspoon of Coconut oil.

  • Peppermint oil is known to have a soothing and calming effect on skin irritations

  • Lavender oil is known for its antimicrobial and soothing properties.

  • Tea Tree oil is known for its antifungal, antibacterial, and antiviral benefits.

LipsTo avoid chapped lips or to heal chapped lips, mix 2 drops of Lavender oil with a teaspoon Coconut oil and apply to lips 2 - 3 times a day. 

If you want to mix larger quantities, store the mixture in a tight sealing brown bottle.

  • Lavender oil has anti-inflammatory and soothing properties for irritated lips.

  • Coconut Oil has an almost instant soothing effect, relieves inflammation and protects lips from moisture loss.

Menopause:  Adding essential oils to a nice warm soothing bath can help with the effects of menopause.

Choose the oil or oils, below, that would work in your circumstances.  Add 6-8 drops (in total) to your bath water.

For a massage oil or after bath lotion, mix 5 drops (in total) of essential oil with 1/2 ounce of coconut oil or unscented lotion.

  • Basil oil helps with the lack of concentration, fatigue and lethargy.

  • Chamomile Roman oil helps with aches and pains, insomnia and headaches.

  • Clary sage oil helps with hot flushes, sweating, insomnia or interrupted sleep.

  • Cypress oil helps with fluid retention, hot flashes, sweating and irritability.

  • Geranium oil helps to balance emotions, such as irritability and depression.

  • Peppermint oil helps with hot flushes, sweating, headaches and fatigue.

Poison Oak or Poison Ivy: Mix three drops of Peppermint oil with coconut, olive oil or an unscented lotion and apply to affected area.

  • Peppermint oil is known to have a soothing and calming effect on skin irritations such as hives, poison ivy, and poison oak. 

  • When applied topically, the menthol in the oil works to increase the blood flow of the affected area and has a cool, soothing effect on the skin.

Sore Feet:  Add 10 drops of Peppermint oil with a tablespoon of Epson salt to warm-water for a soothing foot bath.

  • Peppermint oil leaves a soothing, cooling sensation.

  • Epson salt soak helps to relieve muscle pain, stiffness, softens the skin and neutralizes foot odors.

SunburnAloe Vera Gel and Lavender oil can be used separately or combined.

  • Aloe Vera is the most well-known natural remedy for sunburns, or burns in general, and it's an easy to maintain a Aloe Vera house plant to keep it on hand.

  • Lavender oil is a great remedy for burns in general also.  Lavender oil not only relieves sunburn, but helps to prevent peeling.

Toenail FungusApplying few drops of Thyme oil on the affected area twice a day will work wonders against the infection. Cover the toenail with a cotton sock after applying the oil.  You may also use coconut oil mixed with the essential oil.

  • Thyme oil is extracted from a powerful antifungal plant.

  • Tea Tree oil is known for its antifungal, antibacterial, and antiviral properties.

  • Coconut oil has antibacterial, antimicrobial, and antifungal properties. Studies have shown that coconut oil destroys bacteria.

ToothacheDampen a cotton swab in Clove oil and dab it onto the gum line around the tooth. Apply twice a day, until you can see your dentist, to help relieve the pain.

  • Clove oil has antiseptic properties to kill the bacteria. It also contains Eugenol; a mild natural analgesic which numbs the nerves.

Vapor Rub: (Homemade)  Put 1/4 cup of olive oil, 1/2 cup of coconut oil, 1/4 cup of grated bees wax into a glass jar, a mason jar would work. 

  1. Place the jar into a saucepan with 2 - 3 inches of water on medium low heat to allow wax to melt, stir to combine. 
  2. Let cool slightly then add 20 drops of Peppermint oil and 20 drops of Eucalyptus oil and stir to combine. 
  3. Allow to setup then place lid on jar for storage.

  • Eucalyptus oil is antibacterial, antifungal, antimicrobial, antiviral, anti-inflammatory and is decongestant by nature.

  • Peppermint oil leaves a soothing, cooling sensation.

Warts:  Make a mixture of 3 drops of Oregano oil and 3 drops of Frankincense oil with 6 drops of coconut oil.  Apply to the wart and surrounding area with a Q-tip.  Re-apply 2 to 3 times a day for 2 to 4 weeks (or until wart is gone), then one additional week to prevent wart from returning.  Keep mixture in a tight sealing brown glass bottle.

  • Oregano oil is known for its antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal properties.

*Note* Oregano oil is considered a "Hot Oil" and should be diluted with a carrier oil before using.

  • Frankincense oil is known for its anti-inflammatory, astringent, antiseptic and disinfectant properties.

The first thing you must know is that not all essential oils are created equal.  Make sure they are certified pure therapeutic grade, read the label, don't use synthetic oils.

The second thing you must know is that most essential oils are very strong and are NOT to be used in their concentrated form they should be diluted before application.
